I loathe packing.
Transporting DVDs will now be much easier because I decided to not take the cases out East with me, just the discs themselves. I have Eliza to thank for the inspiration - she has housed her DVDs like this for years, I'm just now catching up.
There's nothing like reorganizing and cataloging your movies to tell you a few things:
A) I have 132 DVDs
B) 3 of those movies were not in their cases (probably with old roommates)
C) I buy too many movies
D) I'm outright missing 6 movies (I know where 4 of them are but I'm not on speaking terms with the people who have them so I can't get them back. Boo!)
Ugh. I wish my VHS would fold up nicely for transport....I still haven't decided if they will make the trip with me or not.

There are pros and cons for storing your DVDs like this. Pro: It uses up less space/easier to store and move. Con: Easier for other people to steal and not as much fun to look at when you're picking out a movie.
What movies are you missing? Maybe I have them. Who are you not on speaking terms with? I'll go knock on their door and get your movie back. How rude of them to keep it.
I downsized my dvds a few years ago. It felt so good! I actually threw away all the covers (which was very hard to do) and then stuck them in one of those ginormous cd book things. Congrats on downsizing and the big move. I'm so excited for you!
