Heartache

I have been thinking about heartache a lot lately.  A few years ago I read a note from a reader in People magazine that belittled a celebrity's heartache because this reader felt her experience was more painful.  The comments from that reader really annoyed me.

We all have our hurts and our wounds, but it serves no one if we compare them with others.  I know many of us want to feel like our situation is the worst and that we are so picked on but comparing heartaches does nothing to improve our lot.

We can never truly know how anyone else feels because we don't live in their skin, we live in ours.  I don't know what it's like to be married, but I also don't know what it's like to struggle with infertility.  Is one of those worse than the other?  Probably, but how we experience them can never be measured on any scale because heartaches are what makes OUR heart ache. 

Let's not compare.  Let's get to work.
