On the Vietnam Memorial people are listed two ways:

1 - with a diamond to signify that they died in battle or later from their wounds

2 - with a cross for those who are missing in action or prisoners of war, about 1200 people total. If/when they are found the cross is blasted into a diamond shape

A museum is being planned that will house some of the knick knacks and personal memorials left at the site.

I often feel very detached from this war, but whenever I visit this memorial I feel such love for these servicemen and women. The spirit here is undeniable and so, so special.
