Gone But Not Forgotten

Why is it that some of the best TV shows only make it a few seasons and stupid shows seem to stick around for years?  I seriously wonder about the intellect of the American people when they keep Two and a Half Men around for season after season.

Let's give a moment of silence to -

Ed
What a fantastic show!  It was sweet and charming, funny and heartwarming, and starred the dream worthy Tom Cavanagh.  It lasted 4 seasons even though it was threatened with cancellation the whole time.  I love(d).

Arrested Development
Quite possibly the funniest show that never was.  Most people I know love this show but didn't discover it until it was off the air.  I understand why this one didn't make it - it's TOO smart.  The writing really is quite genius and there have been rumors of a movie.  Fingers crossed!

Better Off Ted
This show never had a chance.  As you can see, Portia Di Rossi is in this show as well.  She makes amazing choices in her roles, unfortunately they get cancelled.  This show is also very smart and very funny.  I recommend it, you can find it on Netflix.

Pushing Daisies
Ugh, what a heartbreak!  This show is funny, witty, beautiful and dramatic....what's not to love?  it only survived two seasons.  Grrrr.  I know lots of people that were upset by the demise of Pushing Daisies.

Veronica Mars
This is so sad.  My friend, Ashley, recommended this to me recently even though it has been off the air for a few years.  I have been watching the seasons on Netflix and I have been rationing the episodes because there are only 3 seasons.  This show is amazing!  It is clever, dramatic, gripping and just oh so good!  I wish I had watched it while it was on - I would have launched a campaign/protest to do whatever necessary to keep it on.  Watch it please!  Unless you can't handle the thought of it ending :(

What shows are you mourning?

I couldn't agree with you more about this! I loved all those shows. There was one on a few years ago called 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip", Matthew Parry, our lovely Chandler Bing, was the lead character. It was so smart and witty! I loved it. I will cry a tear for all of those shows! So sad they are gone....

I LOVED Arrested Development. I found it during its third season (I was finally old enough to appreciate such things) and wasn't really sure what I had found (since you know, you have to watch it from the beginning) but I knew it was a gem. Now I've watched it like 40 times.

Tom Cav . . . delish. Loved him in Scrubs as J.D.'s brother.

Better Off Ted was hilarious.

Man, we should be roommates - we have all the same tastes in shows.

Do you 30 Rock it?

Kristin. Staring Kristin Chenoweth. Amazing show...you can youtube all of the episodes - I think they made it to 5. Its one of the greatest TV industry losses of all time!

Aaah yes Ed! Ed!! I love it. That used to be my lunchtime-revision-distraction at uni. Though they just used to shove them on in no sort of coherent order over here. It was interesting trying to keep characters and storylines straight jumping from one series to another...

Dirty Sexy Money was the best show ever. I miss it everyday, we have the very last episode saved because it's too hard to let go.

I totally feel ya on this.

The West Wing was some of the best writing I've ever heard.

And I was one of the four people who watched Eli Stone. There. I said it.
