LOL, etc

I hate "text language". I hate what's happening to the English language because we are now forcing ourselves to communicate in 140 characters or less.

Granted, I seriously dislike talking on the phone but I refuse to join the OMG/LOL/BRB/LMAO crowd. If you can't fit your conversation into a text (with appropriate grammar) then fine - call.

I don't understand why people can't get the "your/you're" and "there/their" thing straight.

Obviously, not everyone feels this way, fine. But can we all agree to try a little bit harder? Sheesh.

Love it! my biggest pet peeve is when people don't know the difference between lose and loose. AGH!!!! What are your thoughts on code numbers? 1-4-3 for example???

I agree with you on the spelling thing. I can't look at Facebook without seeing at least one person messing those up.
I don't use "texting language" but at the same time I don't have a problem with it. One of the characteristics of language is that it evolves and is subject to cultural change. If someone time traveled from the days when old English was used, they'd probably be appalled by some of the most eloquent English speakers today. Maybe our language is digressing in the way it's changing, but maybe it's just becoming more compact for efficiency.

I "love you" Rachel. And I may have used lol before, (oh here's a good one) jus-sayin. But sometimes things are funny and I do Laugh out loud, sue me. Though I do know my grammer and after interpreting in english as a second language, like 6 times, I know more now than when I had english in college. My #1 pet peeve when a few people use "nummy" instead of "yummy" I just cringed as I typed it out here. Can I use that quote as a status on Facebook?
