Paris

We spent four lovely days in Paris and still didn't get to see everything on our list. It was nice to finally cross Paris off my "must see" list but I didn't fall in love with it. Paris is a beautiful, busy city but it didn't strike a chord with me.

First stop was the Eiffel Tower - obviously.

We then made our way to the Arc du Triomphe and then walked down the Champs Elysees to the Louvre. I feared that I would have permanently deformed feet from all the walking. We had amazing weather the whole time which made the walking much easier.

People in Paris are AFFECTIONATE. Major make out sessions all over the place. Everywhere.

We took a break outside the Louvre and this baby toddled over to Erin and demanded to be picked up. Initially Erin was reticent to pick her up but the mom gave the approving head nod so Erin scooped her up. It was adorable!

The Louvre

I saw several metro jumpers every day. They would either jump over the turnstyle or kick it until it let them through.

Notre Dame

Another view of Notre Dame from across the Seine

Uh, yum.

The Seine. Young people gather along the Seine in the evenings to meet with friends and have a bitty Parisian picnic. They bring wine, cheese, cherry tomatoes, and bread. Not just a few dozen people, we're talking hundreds. It was charming.

The doors at Notre Dame - obsessed.

Versailles! Dream come true! After finding out that we are from America, the security guard said, "I love Obama. Our president, it is shit, man". Ha!

Hall of Mirrors

The gardens were indescribable. We didn't even scratch the surface even though we walked around them for 2.5 hours.

Saint Chapelle! I have wanted to go here for many years. Definitely a bucket list destination.

I cried when I walked in.

It is famous for the 15 stained glass panels that each display a story from the Bible.

Took my breath away. I'm not kidding about the crying, by the way.

The sun didn't set in Paris until after 10pm so people were out on the streets until midnight or later. They would be eating, chatting, drinking. I could people watch all day in Paris.

I ate more than enough crepes.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't madly obsessively in love with Paris. I thought maybe I did something wrong . . . it's a busy and pretty city but its got nothing on Italy or Austria or Germany.

I would like to see Paris, but I've heard from you and others that it isn't the best city in Europe. It's a great one, but there are others with more to offer.
Looks like you saw some awesome spots, though!
